The R3306GYFutaba combines a 2.4 GHz T-FHSS Air receiver and a 6-axis stabilization system for radio-controlled aircraft in a single housing.
This integration simplifies wiring, reduces the number of components to install, and minimizes onboard weight. The R3306GY can be used on various types of wings, including flying wings, as well as on electric or gas-powered aircraft.
Three-Axis Stabilization
The gyroscope acts on the aircraft’s three main axes:
- roll via the ailerons;
- pitch via the elevator;
- yaw via the rudder.
The gyroscope’s gain can be adjusted separately for each axis from the transmitter. The R3306GY offers four operating modes:
- Recovery mode;
- AVCS mode;
- Normal mode;
- Gyroscope Off.
Recovery Mode
Recovery mode automatically returns the aircraft to level flight via a switch on the transmitter. It can be used when the pilot temporarily loses awareness of the model’s attitude or orientation.
When Recovery mode is activated and the control sticks are released, the system commands a return to level flight. Futaba recommends using a momentary switch for this function.
This feature is a flight aid but cannot compensate for an aircraft that is improperly set up, damaged, or unable to fly correctly.
Multiple Wing Configurations
The R3306GY supports various configurations, including:
- conventional wing;
- flying wing with Elevon mixing;
- V-tail;
- up to four ailerons;
- up to two elevator servos.
Advanced functions such as Roll Flat, Air Brake, Camber Mixing, and certain 4D flight configurations can also be configured using the GPB-1 unit or a compatible Futaba transmitter.
Conventional Outputs and S.BUS2
The receiver features six conventional outputs as well as an S.BUS2. input/output port. This port allows you to connect S.BUS2 devices and set up systems with more servos.
Conventional servos or standard S.BUS servos must not be connected directly to the port S.BUS2.
Receiver Setup
Essential settings can be adjusted using the button and LED on the receiver housing.
A more comprehensive configuration is possible with:
- Futaba GPB-1 programming box;
- Futaba T32MZ;
- Futaba T32MZ World Champion Edition;
- Futaba T26SZ;
- Futaba T26SZ Pro;
- Futaba T16IZ Super.
The GPB-1 receiver and compatible transmitters must have the software version that supports the R3306GY.
Radio Compatibility
The R3306GY works only with a T-FHSS Air-compatible transmitter ( Futaba ) that has at least 10 channels.
It is not compatible with the Futaba T-FHSS Surface, S-FHSS, FHSS, FASST, or FASSTest protocols when used alone.
Compact Design
Thanks to its small size and weight of 15.5 g, the R3306GY can be installed in many airframes. The two antennas use a diversity system and must be positioned at a 90° angle to each other.
The receiver must be securely mounted near the center of gravity and in an area with minimal vibration. Multiple mounting orientations can be configured.
